Project Updates25MY2005Purdue announced that the program project grant was competitively renewed. See http://news.uns.purdue.edu/UNS/html3month/2005/050525.Pezzuto.grant.html for the full story. 17MR2005Work has begun on the online sample database. We have designed an interactive plant database to track the movement of test samples between projects and cores. When completed, the database will be available in on this portion of the website, which will be password-protected. This will allow all investigators to have access to the database for data entry, review of data, create data analysis reports by designated parameters, and track movement of samples in the testing system flow. At the conception of this program project grant in 1991, a plant database was created to record activity of the plants tested. This ongoing database will be imported to the password protected website to be archived for future reference. The new interactive database will commence with year 13 of this program project. The database entry flow will be managed by Administrative Core A under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the database and consulting the database designer as needed. The figure below presents a template of the database structure. Once this database is operational, all investigators will have full access to the database. Limited access will be granted to their respective research personnel. These guidelines will be determined by the project and core leaders. ![]() Diagram of NIC database 14MR2005The document repository was completed today. This website now has an online document repository where the several researchers can share information. The password-protected document repository is available for investigators and authorized research staff. The document repository allows the investigators to review reports, program project meeting notes, pertinent data, announcements, etc. This efficient and expedient mechanism for sharing information helps in keeping costs down with respect to mail services and supplies. 08MR2005The access-control system was brought online this morning. |
